Phillip has been creating graphics since 2000, ever since he first experienced Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop and knew instantly that this was what he wanted to do with his life. After working for a few large format print companies, and noticing that he could run a better one, he left his job and started Gamut Media in his parent’s garage. Phillip bought a Roland as his first machine and never looked back, as he explained, “We bought a VersaCAMM SP-540 and that’s how we started. The VersaCAMM has been the foundation of our business.”

Gamut has risen to success very quickly in the graphics world and along the way has picked up some high-profile clients. In particular, their recent work for Snoop Dogg has gained them much praise and attention. Phillip described how they met Snoop through a contractor who worked on Snoop Dogg’s home and asked them if wanted to do some work for Snoop’s private recording studio. “Our first custom wall mural we did for Snoop Dogg was his son’s room,” explained Phillip. “He was accepted to UCLA on a football scholarship so we designed, printed and installed a custom UCLA wall mural. He loved it and wanted additional murals. We ended doing seventeen in his compound.”
