The Clinicians Perspective on Digital Dentistry

Saturday, February 25, 2017, 10:00 – 11:00am

Dr. Ercoli discusses fixed prosthodontics treatment and how digital dentistry can significantly enhance communication between the dentist and laboratory technologist – streamlining workflows for efficient delivery.

Successful dental implant and fixed prosthodontics treatment relies on sound, evidence-based concepts of surgical and restorative treatment planning, but most importantly on adequate communication with laboratory technologist partners. Through better communication among team members, dentist, and technologist, the appropriate protocols for material, design choices and functionality of the final restoration can be achieved.

Topics Covered:

  • How digital workflows can streamline dentist-technologist communication
  • Which materials might be preferable for anterior and posterior implant abutments and their design from a clinician and material choice standpoint
  • How to design simple and complex implant cases
  • How to best optimize marginal accuracy with digital workflows

Time & Materials: How CAM Can Make a Difference

Saturday, February 25, 2017, 11:30 – 12:30pm

Michael Webb helps attendees de-mystify the CAM process and explains how technicians can make more informed decisions in the manufacturing process.

CAM is still a product of mystery to most lab users today. For most of us, it just works. It's when we introduce new consumables or try to go outside of our daily workflow that we see varying results in the manufacturing process. By de-mystifying the CAM process, technicians will better understand the changes they can safely make to their manufacturing process and what they should look for in CAM software.

Topics Covered:

  • How CAM works, toolpaths and milling times
  • Tool geometries and cutting parameters
  • Material composition and density
  • Tool manufacturing and material manufacturing processes
